Take Me Back in Time

Sweet kisses,

One pair is rough.

Frosted stubble scrapes

The fresh snow.

Clock-hands tick.

One laughs at a movie,

The other has never seen it.

He speaks,

She is carefully silent.

Wisdom in abundance,

She has not a word.

His knowledge ignites a longing.

She bites her tongue.

If only time stood still.

She sits on the floor,

Gripping her knees.

Her cheeks still stinging.
